Filing a Claim/Denied Claims

A disability is an impairment or combination of impairments, physical or mental, that stops a client from working 8 hours a day, five days a week.
If you think you are disabled and have stopped working as a result, you should apply for benefits. You may do this by
- Going online at www.ssa.gov
- Calling the toll free number at 1-800-772-1213, or
- By going in person to your branch office.

Most applications are denied regardless of merit. You should not take a denial as proof of the merits of your claim. Many denied claims are good claims. If your claim is denied, do not give up!
